“A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush”. This old saying is for ‘quitters’. It implies that you are completely satisfied with your situation in life and are reluctant to explore new horizons. You have relinquished your untested possibilities for self improvement because you feel safe with what you have and who you are. How sad!

Look in your hand. What do you see? One lonely little bird. You may have the impulse to trade it for the two birds in the bush to double your assets, but you would have to struggle through the thorny bush to catch them. And what if you lost the only bird you have in your pursuit for the two birds? Is it worth the risk?

Life is like that. We become so comfortable in our status quo that we dare not take the opportunity for a better life for fear of failing and disturbing our comfort zone. Human potential is only limited by our failure to commit to new challenges.

Life changes aren’t necessarily about money. If you are still among the living, there is always a better life out there for you. Only you have the power to make the choices to change your life. If you don’t like the life you’re living, only you can fix it. You are the most important person in your life. Live, laugh and love and always have a new goal.

I’m disturbed, and a little afraid when I learn, that for inner-city black teenagers, the homicide rate is astronomical and that the violent crimes by all blacks is eight times as high as whites for murder and more than ten times for robbery. I’m not racist, It just makes me be a little more cautious in certain areas or the city. It is claimed that these crimes are my fault because I am somehow responsible for their “oppression” that led them to crime because I happen to be white.

I’m disturbed when statistics show that, although blacks comprise only 12.5 percent of America’s total population, 44 percent of all prisoners in the United States are black. In 20 states, the percent of blacks incarcerated was at least 5 times greater than their percentage of the resident population. These statistics might make me a little wary when a young black glares at me because I’m white.

I’m disturbed, when I learn that the single black mother Shasta, living in a section 8 house around the corner from me with 6 children and no daddy present, has a higher income than I do. She doesn’t work. I do. She doesn’t pay taxes. I do. She gets free rent, $250 for each child, free Health Care for 7 people, free utilities, food stamps, free cell phone, free day care, but no child support from her kid’s 3 daddies. Adding up her total yearly income from the government comes to around $70 thousand, paid from my taxes. I make $48 thousand per year. And who owns the 2008 BMW with chrome mag wheels that parks in her driveway. I guess I owe this lady because I’m white and it’s my fault that she’s “disadvantaged”.

I’m disturbed at how blacks band together in organizations and activities specifically for their race. NAACP, Black caucuses in politics, Black Panthers, Black History month, Black colleges, Black Women’s Network, Black film festival, Black TV Channel. Even George Washington’s birthday was changed to “Presidents Day” to appease the blacks because he may have owned slaves. Unless I’ve missed something, there are no White Panthers, no White History Month, No White Women’s Network, No White Caucus, No White TV Channel. If even one viable white organization were formed, there would be an uproar heard across America.

I’m disturbed when I see very wealthy blacks like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Louis Farrakhan , and Reverend Wright attacking white people, blaming them for all the woes of their “oppressed” brothers and demanding financial “reparation” for acts that happened many decades ago. When they spew their verbal venom attacking white people, would that not prove that they are the Real Racists? Is not blaming white people for blacks’ woes Racists? It is human nature to blame others for our inadequacies. This attitude excuses one from all efforts for improvement. Your problems can be found staring back at you from your mirror.

Respect, personal responsibility, self esteem and success cannot be achieved by demanding it, it must be earned whether you’re black, white or any other race. Once these qualities are embedded in your character, you’re on your own and ready for a great life. Lacking these qualities is no one’s fault but your own. I’m not a racist, I’m just disturbed at being called racist because I happen to be white and speak my mind.

Medicare and Medicaid: It all began July 30, 1965 when President LB Johnson signed the Medicare Law as part if his “Great Society”. This was to be funded by taxing the Social Security payments of the elderly. This new socialistic law also included Medicaid. Prior to that, nearly every American could afford health care and, as a whole, Americans were healthy. Doctors house calls were frequent. The family doctor treated 75 percent of illnesses. Doctors visits were $5 to $10, now $125 and up. Child birth was $400, now averages $12,000. Appendectomies were $350, now $7,000. Hospital rooms went for $50 to $100 per day, now $1000 and up.

Families helped families with their health costs and charities helped the poor. Medicare and Medicaid began the burgeoning cost of health care that has grown 800 percent since 1965, far more than inflation for goods or deflation of the dollar. Health Care consumes a whopping 15.3 percent of the GDP. Your government at work.

The only country in the modern world that allows this. Now nearly every other ad on TV is for a prescription drug. New drugs are invented for new ‘diseases’. 1 in 6 Americans are deemed to be “mentally ill”. Drug company profits have soared 400 percent in a little over a decade. Patients are prescribed a drug, that they have seen on TV, 62 percent of the time when they ask their doctor for it, sometimes circumventing the decision of the doctor.

America spends twice as much for prescription drugs and more people take drugs than any other country. Yet, because of the vast amount of money given to politicians by the drug lobbyists, congress will continue to refuse to negotiate drug prices even for Medicare and Medicaid. Your government at work.

The Medicare Prescription Drug Law: This law was rammed through congress in 2003 at the insistence of the drug lobbyists and produced the largest overhaul of Medicare in the public health program’s 38-year history. This bill was initially given a 15 minute vote. At the end of that time frame, the bill was defeated by 15 votes. The vote was extended and lasted for 3 hours. Rep Billy Tauzin, the leader of the bill, spent that time twisting arms in the House until the law passed by one vote. Tauzin retired soon after to take a $2 million job as CEO of Pharma, a huge drug company organization.

Then the TV ads started, which amount to legal “ambulance chasing”. Legislation has been drafted for “Tort Reform” to put a cap on lawsuits and to force the attorneys to pay the court costs when losing a lawsuit. Many other countries have these laws. But, because of the lawyer’s heavy donations to politicians and the fact the a great percentage of politicians are lawyers, these laws have as much of a chance of passing as the proverbial flying pig. Your government at work.

The vast percentage of tax money used to run our government comes from middle class workers. Only 5 percent of taxes comes from those making over $250 thousand. And yet the middle class voice is ignored by the political elite. It’s as if we have been reduced to the status of “slaves” working for the Massa.

The middle class tax dollars are put into this diminishing tax pot and distributed to those who refuse to work and those who have created a culture of living on government “assistance” that perpetuates over generations. Those who have chosen to drop out of school. Those who create a house full of children they know will enhance their government income. The couples with children who refuse to get married because that would cut off the government money spigot. Those people who have read the thousand page book of “government handouts”, “entitlements’ and “benefits” and can recite it word for word. They all get their money from the sweat of middle class workers.

If the middle class begins to complain too loudly, they are labeled as “racists” or “profilers” and put to shame for not wanting to help the “disadvantaged”.

Congress operates by majority rule when passing laws. But in the public sector, majority rule is a forgotten concept and plays no part in political decisions. The majority was against ObamaCare. It passed. The majority is against Cap and Trade. It passed the House. The majority is against open borders and amnesty. We are ignored. The majority is against Obama’s policies. He ignores them as he “spreads the wealth”. Congress has a 19 percent approval rating. The majority thinks they’re doing a rotten job, yet they’re still there.

The majority has failed to get involved. They have become so wrapped up in their own every day struggles with job and family that they have become somewhat apathetic. On the other hand, those on government assistance organize aggressively. Think ACORN. They make certain that their voice is heard and their vote is counted to keep the free money flowing in.

If this scenario continues its course, very soon those on government handouts will become the “majority”. That will be the beginning of the end of America as we knew it. So make your voice heard. Yell if you have to. Get involved with community gatherings. And for America’s sake VOTE and take your neighbors and friends with you. November may be the last chance we have!

The wonderful analogy below, was written by a brave lady, Arizona’s Governor Jan Brewer. She illustrates the hypocrisy of laws being enforced on some lawbreakers while, for purely political reasons, the same laws are not enforced on other lawbreakers.

The owner of the Phoenix Suns basketball team, Robert Saver, opposes AZ’s new immigration laws. Arizona’s Governor, Jan Brewer, released the following statement in response Saver’s criticism of the new law:

“What if the owners of the Suns discovered that hordes of people were sneaking into the games without paying? What if they had a good idea of who the gate-crashers are, but the ushers and the security personnel were not allowed to ask these folks to produce their ticket stubs, thus non-paying attendees could not be ejected?

Furthermore, what if the Suns ownership was expected to provide those who sneaked in with complimentary eats and drink? And what if, on those days when a gate-crasher became ill or injured, the Suns had to provide free medical care and shelter?”

Laws are made to be enforced. If one law can be broken with no consequences, then, to be fair, all laws become unenforceable. If you run a red light, cheat on your taxes or rob a bank and get arrested, just ask the judge why illegal immigrants can break the law with no punishment and you can’t. America is the land of the free, but there should be no freedom for those who brazenly and continually break the laws of America.

Shame on you Obama and shame on you Congress. Grow some! Seal our borders and arrest the illegals who are flooding our country with drugs and sucking our treasury dry.

This letter is not intended for the tiny minority of congress who try to do the right thing nor for any particular party. This letter is for the arrogant, self indulging, self serving elitists who dress up in their Brooks Brother’s suits and have $100 hair cuts. And those who consider themselves exempt from the laws they pass to impose hardships on the people they are sworn to serve. Shame on you!

We noticed that you voted yourselves a “cost of living” raise this year, $4,000 for the House and $5,300 for the Senate. What world do you live in that can rationalize a raise, paid for with our tax money, when polls show that Congressional job approval is at an appalling 19 percent? If we were to do such a terrible job and asked our boss for a raise, we would be fired as you should be. Shame on you!

Not only did you give yourselves a raise, but you voted NOT to give Social Security recipients their annual raise for the next two years! You also voted to raise our Medicare premiums $285.60 for these two years. Social Security will have a total 2 year loss of $1,600 each or $3200 for husband and wife. You also voted to TAX our Social Security income that we pay into for most of our lives. Do you even give a damn? I think not. Shame on you!

You have become so passionately involved in your ideological pissing contest that you have miserably failed to do the people’s work and have let America morph into a debtor state that has no chance of recovering while you are still in office. Hey, if things go bad, just blame the other party. It is never your fault! Shame on you!

You have grossly and constantly ignored the will of the majority of Americans and have chosen to sing the song, “I did it my way”. Americans want the borders secure. You ignore us. Americans didn’t want the Heath Care Law. You ignored us. Not only did you ignore us but you exempted yourselves from the same HC law. Is it because you consider yourselves “SPECIAL”? Do you think you are better than us? Shame on you!!

In order to accumulate the enormous amounts of money it takes to get elected and re-elected, you sell your souls to lobbyists who represent special interests which amounts to a bribe. Your allegiance is to them, not to the American people who believed your lies and voted for you. Shame on you!

Hey, maybe you’re just a whining coward who hasn’t the balls to go against the “leaders” for fear they won’t help you get re-elected, or you won’t get that coveted committee appointment, if you don’t do exactly as they say. Well grow some! Shame on you!

You come back to your district and brag about how capable you are because you were able to secure money for the district. This tax money came from the states, went to Washington, then, after funneling through a giant maze of Federal bureaucracy, we only get pennies on the dollar back to the state. Did that ever cross your mind? And what backroom deal was made that enabled you to get these pennies? Did you vote for a $300 billion administration bill to get a paltry $10 million “earmark” for your district? Shame on you!

Public service in Congress was never designed by our Founding Fathers to become your career with lifelong benefits, such as an automatic retirement plan after one term in office. We can’t retire after a few years of work, why should you? And explain to us why you think you deserve this and free health care and exemption from Social Security. Oh! I forgot, you’re “SPECIAL”! Shame on you!

Congress controls the laws and decisions made for America. You and you alone are responsibility for the mess we’re in. We need a new congress and we vow not to let you be a part of it. Goodby and Shame on you!

“Government isn’t the solution to the problem, government IS the problem.” Ronald Reagan. Please send this letter to your Senator and Representative. Let them know America is fed up with them. Shame on them!

Do you know that we have adult students at the school where I teach who are NOT U.S. citizens and who get the PELL Grant, which is a federal grant (no payback required) plus other federal grants to go to school?

One student from the Dominican Republic told me that she didn’t want me to find a job for her after she finished my program, because she was getting housing from our housing department and she was getting a PELL Grant which paid for her total tuition and books, plus money leftover. She was looking into WAIT which gives students a CREDIT CARD for gas to come to school, and into CARIBE which is a special program (check it out -I did) for immigrants and it pays for child care and all sorts of needs while they go to school or training.

The one student I just mentioned told me she was not going to be a U.S. Citizen because she plans to return to the Dominican Republic someday and that she ‘loves HER country.’ I asked her if she felt guilty taking what the U.S. is giving her and then not even bothering to become a citizen and she told me that it doesn’t bother her, because that is what the money is there for!

I asked the CARIBE administration about their program and if you ARE a U.S. citizen, you don’t qualify for their program. And all the while, I am working a full day, my son-in-law works more than 60 hours a week, and everyone in my family works and pays for our education.

Something is wrong here. I am sorry, but after hearing that they want to sing the National Anthem in Spanish - enough is enough. That’s a real slap in the face. Nowhere did they sing it in Italian, Polish, Irish (Celtic), German or any other language because of immigration. It was written by Francis Scott Key and should be sung word for word the way it was written. The news broadcasts even gave the translation — not even close.

I don’t care whether this offends someone or not but this is MY COUNTRY. IF IT IS YOUR COUNTRY SPEAK UP — please pass this along. I am not against immigration — I just expect immigrants to come through like everyone else. Get a sponsor; have a place to lay your head; have a job; pay your taxes, live by the rules AND LEARN THE LANGUAGE as all other immigrants have in the past.

According to ABC news, there were 239 military suicides in 2009, a higher rate than the civilian population. Two thirds of the suicides were at home and the rest at the war front. Murder and other psychotic acts were also at high levels for our returning troops.

The two ‘wars’ in which America is now engaged, Afghanistan and Iraq, have been the longest fought wars in American history. The probability of ‘winning’ these wars and securing peace in the Middle East is highly questionable if not impossible.

America has not definitively won a war since WW2. Our troops, in the current two wars against radical Muslims, are undergoing stress different than was present in WW2. (Not implying WW2 vets didn’t go through hell). In WW2 the enemy was well defined and the objective was clear. The enemy was in uniform and the objective was to kill the enemy and to secure real estate until victory was achieved. The American public fully supported the troops. They were given ticker tape parades on their arrival home and most went on to lead health productive lives.

The troops are now fighting an invisible undefinable enemy with danger lurking at every corner, building and road. They see horrible deaths and suicide bombings that are etched in their brains. They are sent on multiple tours of duty away from their families who also suffer financially. They can see no end to it except for unkept promises by politicians to “bring the troops home.” There is no doubt that our troops are stressed!

The political and psychiatric solution to this problem was to first put a name on it: Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder PTST. There are multiple psychiatric drugs for that disorder. Problem solved, or problem worsened? The troops in these wars have been medicated with mind drugs more than any other war in history, with much more benefit for the drug companies than for the troops. In this war, troops are often given an antidepressant, or multiple mind drugs, and sent right back into action. Psychological counseling or a trip to their preacher is seldom an option.

Psychiatrists claim their drugs save lives, but according to their own studies, drugs can double the risk of suicide. And long-term use has been proven to create a lifetime of physical and mental damage, a fact ignored by psychiatrists. Common and well-documented side effects of psychiatric drugs include suicidal ideation mania, psychosis, hallucinations, depersonalization, heart attack, stroke and sudden death.

Click on this website and see a long list describing hundreds of cases of suicides and murders directly attributed to antidepressants and other mind drugs that drove ordinary people to suicide or murder. http://ssristories.com/index.php
