“A Bird in the Hand is Worth Two in the Bush”.

“A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush”. This old saying is for ‘quitters’. It implies that you are completely satisfied with your situation in life and are reluctant to explore new horizons. You have relinquished your untested possibilities for self improvement because you feel safe with what you have and who you are. How sad!

Look in your hand. What do you see? One lonely little bird. You may have the impulse to trade it for the two birds in the bush to double your assets, but you would have to struggle through the thorny bush to catch them. And what if you lost the only bird you have in your pursuit for the two birds? Is it worth the risk?

Life is like that. We become so comfortable in our status quo that we dare not take the opportunity for a better life for fear of failing and disturbing our comfort zone. Human potential is only limited by our failure to commit to new challenges.

Life changes aren’t necessarily about money. If you are still among the living, there is always a better life out there for you. Only you have the power to make the choices to change your life. If you don’t like the life you’re living, only you can fix it. You are the most important person in your life. Live, laugh and love and always have a new goal.

I’m Not a Racist, I’m Just Disturbed!

I’m disturbed, and a little afraid when I learn, that for inner-city black teenagers, the homicide rate is astronomical and that the violent crimes by all blacks is eight times as high as whites for murder and more than ten times for robbery. I’m not racist, It just makes me be a little more cautious in certain areas or the city. It is claimed that these crimes are my fault because I am somehow responsible for their “oppression” that led them to crime because I happen to be white.

I’m disturbed when statistics show that, although blacks comprise only 12.5 percent of America’s total population, 44 percent of all prisoners in the United States are black. In 20 states, the percent of blacks incarcerated was at least 5 times greater than their percentage of the resident population. These statistics might make me a little wary when a young black glares at me because I’m white.

I’m disturbed, when I learn that the single black mother Shasta, living in a section 8 house around the corner from me with 6 children and no daddy present, has a higher income than I do. She doesn’t work. I do. She doesn’t pay taxes. I do. She gets free rent, $250 for each child, free Health Care for 7 people, free utilities, food stamps, free cell phone, free day care, but no child support from her kid’s 3 daddies. Adding up her total yearly income from the government comes to around $70 thousand, paid from my taxes. I make $48 thousand per year. And who owns the 2008 BMW with chrome mag wheels that parks in her driveway. I guess I owe this lady because I’m white and it’s my fault that she’s “disadvantaged”.

I’m disturbed at how blacks band together in organizations and activities specifically for their race. NAACP, Black caucuses in politics, Black Panthers, Black History month, Black colleges, Black Women’s Network, Black film festival, Black TV Channel. Even George Washington’s birthday was changed to “Presidents Day” to appease the blacks because he may have owned slaves. Unless I’ve missed something, there are no White Panthers, no White History Month, No White Women’s Network, No White Caucus, No White TV Channel. If even one viable white organization were formed, there would be an uproar heard across America.

I’m disturbed when I see very wealthy blacks like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Louis Farrakhan , and Reverend Wright attacking white people, blaming them for all the woes of their “oppressed” brothers and demanding financial “reparation” for acts that happened many decades ago. When they spew their verbal venom attacking white people, would that not prove that they are the Real Racists? Is not blaming white people for blacks’ woes Racists? It is human nature to blame others for our inadequacies. This attitude excuses one from all efforts for improvement. Your problems can be found staring back at you from your mirror.

Respect, personal responsibility, self esteem and success cannot be achieved by demanding it, it must be earned whether you’re black, white or any other race. Once these qualities are embedded in your character, you’re on your own and ready for a great life. Lacking these qualities is no one’s fault but your own. I’m not a racist, I’m just disturbed at being called racist because I happen to be white and speak my mind.

The Cause of the Health Care Crisis in America? Your Government!

America Has the Highest Cost of “Health Care” in the World and it Will Escalate Even Higher Under the New ‘Health Care Law’. The Cause? Your Government! America is the sickest country of any modern democracy in the world. Sickness is America’s largest industry. Americans spends more on sickness, $2.6 trillion per year, than any other country up 300 percent in the last 20 years). America spends $7016 on sickness for each of its 305 million people each year, the highest in the world. Yet we have a lower life span and a higher child death per 1000 than any other modern country. This article will show you the main causes of America’s Health Care Crisis. Your Government enables them all!

Medicare and Medicaid: It all began July 30, 1965 when President LB Johnson signed the Medicare Law as part if his “Great Society”. This was to be funded by taxing the Social Security payments of the elderly. This new socialistic law also included Medicaid. Prior to that, nearly every American could afford health care and, as a whole, Americans were healthy. Doctors house calls were frequent. The family doctor treated 75 percent of illnesses. Doctors visits were $5 to $10, now $125 and up. Child birth was $400, now averages $12,000. Appendectomies were $350, now $7,000. Hospital rooms went for $50 to $100 per day, now $1000 and up.

Only 2 percent of Americans had Health Insurance. Families helped families with their health costs and charities helped the poor. Medicare and Medicaid began the burgeoning cost of health care that has grown 800 percent since 1965, far more than inflation for goods or deflation of the dollar. Health Care consumes a whopping 15.3 percent of the GDP. Your government at work.

Drug Companies: In 1997 congress, at the urging of the drug company’s lobbyists, passed a law allowing the drug companies to advertise directly to the public. The only country in the modern world that allows this. Now nearly every other ad on TV is for a prescription drug. New drugs are invented for new ‘diseases’. 1 in 6 Americans are deemed to be “mentally ill”. Drug company profits have soared 400 percent in a little over a decade. Patients are prescribed a drug, that they have seen on TV, 62 percent of the time when they ask their doctor for it, sometimes circumventing the decision of the doctor.

America spends twice as much for prescription drugs and more people take drugs than any other country. Yet, because of the vast amount of money given to politicians by the drug lobbyists, congress will continue to refuse to negotiate drug prices even for Medicare and Medicaid. Your government at work.

The Medicare Prescription Drug Law: This law was rammed through congress in 2003 at the insistence of the drug lobbyists and produced the largest overhaul of Medicare in the public health program’s 38-year history. This bill was initially given a 15 minute vote. At the end of that time frame, the bill was defeated by 15 votes. The vote was extended and lasted for 3 hours. Rep Billy Tauzin, the leader of the bill, spent that time twisting arms in the House until the law passed by one vote. Tauzin retired soon after to take a $2 million job as CEO of Pharma, a huge drug company organization.

Prior to this law, Medicare patients paid for their own drugs. But this new law gave the drug companies a blank check to the already depleted Medicare fund and the drug companies’ profits continued to soar at the cost of the taxpayer. Again, no drug price negotiations.Your government at work!

Lawyers: In 1977, the Supreme Court ruled that Lawyers had the right to advertise their services. Then the TV ads started, which amount to legal “ambulance chasing”. As a direct result, America has more lawyers than all the other nations in the world combined and America has become the ‘law suit capital of the world’. A neurosurgeon can pay as much as $200,000 per year for malpractice insurance and, of course, this egregious premium must be recovered by raising his fees, thus passing it on to his patients and increasing the over all costs of health care. In addition, the doctors are forced to take multiple unnecessary tests and procedures just to cover their ass from law suites, adding even more to health care costs.

Many doctors have quit practice because of the potentiality of law suits. In court, win or lose, the lawyer gets paid. Legislation has been drafted for “Tort Reform” to put a cap on lawsuits and to force the attorneys to pay the court costs when losing a lawsuit. Many other countries have these laws. But, because of the lawyer’s heavy donations to politicians and the fact the a great percentage of politicians are lawyers, these laws have as much of a chance of passing as the proverbial flying pig. Your government at work.

Only Congress makes the laws for America, and in doing so, only they can be held accountable for the mess our country is in. If you think our health care system is bad now, wait ‘til the new one kicks in! We will have our last chance to throw the crooks out in November and end the agenda that would destroy America!

The New “Health Care” Law in One Paragraph!

Let me get this straight. We’re going to be “gifted” with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and fined if we don’t, written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn’t understand it, passed by a Congress that hasn’t read it but exempts themselves from it, to be signed by a president who also smokes, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn’t pay his taxes, to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that’s broke. What could possibly go wrong?

The Voiceless Majority: The Middle Class

The vast percentage of tax money used to run our government comes from middle class workers. Only 5 percent of taxes comes from those making over $250 thousand. And yet the middle class voice is ignored by the political elite. It’s as if we have been reduced to the status of “slaves” working for the Massa.

The middle class tax dollars are put into this diminishing tax pot and distributed to those who refuse to work and those who have created a culture of living on government “assistance” that perpetuates over generations. Those who have chosen to drop out of school. Those who create a house full of children they know will enhance their government income. The couples with children who refuse to get married because that would cut off the government money spigot. Those people who have read the thousand page book of “government handouts”, “entitlements’ and “benefits” and can recite it word for word. They all get their money from the sweat of middle class workers.

If the middle class begins to complain too loudly, they are labeled as “racists” or “profilers” and put to shame for not wanting to help the “disadvantaged”.

Congress operates by majority rule when passing laws. But in the public sector, majority rule is a forgotten concept and plays no part in political decisions. The majority was against ObamaCare. It passed. The majority is against Cap and Trade. It passed the House. The majority is against open borders and amnesty. We are ignored. The majority is against Obama’s policies. He ignores them as he “spreads the wealth”. Congress has a 19 percent approval rating. The majority thinks they’re doing a rotten job, yet they’re still there.

The majority has failed to get involved. They have become so wrapped up in their own every day struggles with job and family that they have become somewhat apathetic. On the other hand, those on government assistance organize aggressively. Think ACORN. They make certain that their voice is heard and their vote is counted to keep the free money flowing in.

If this scenario continues its course, very soon those on government handouts will become the “majority”. That will be the beginning of the end of America as we knew it. So make your voice heard. Yell if you have to. Get involved with community gatherings. And for America’s sake VOTE and take your neighbors and friends with you. November may be the last chance we have!
